Hello! I hope you are enjoying a happy and healthy start to your 2020!

My name is Julian Mitchell, and I am an eighth-grade student at Springfield Township Middle School in Montgomery County. Over the course of the last month, my classmates and I have been working on a project in which we try to answer the question, “What is the cost of war?” Working in groups of three, we have created mixed-media art pieces that symbolically represents the costs of war, written essays to explain those costs and their connection to our artwork, and filmed videos in which we educate the community about an organization that assists veterans and others affected by war.

My group has decided to research your organization because of your organization, the reason I chose it because you help a wide variety of Vietnam vets in different ways. Such as homeless vets and vets with PTSD.

This project will culminate in an exhibition at the Free Library of Springfield Township on February 6th from 6:00-7:30 pm. That evening, 27 selected pieces will be displayed and auctioned off. The money that my group raises will go to VVA (Vietnam Veterans of America)
This exhibition is open to any and all members of the community that is interested in attending, and we would love if a representative from VVA could come and see all of the hard work that we’ve put into this project over the last month! If you are able to come, please email my teacher, Mr. Patrick Kelly, at Patrick_Kelly@sdst.org.

Thank you for all that you do to support those in need!

Warm regards,
Julian Mitchell
